The objective of Tallahassee Online Police Statistics web site is to provide crime,
traffic crash, and quality of life data to the Tallahassee community in a simple
to use format. The data on this website is specific to the City of Tallahassee (Tallahassee
Police Dept.) and is taken directly from the TPD Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) application
that tracks police activity. Please note that the activities shown are taken from
calls for service, which are defined as a call or complaint generated by a citizen
to the Department, or an incident identified and documented by an officer in the
field. These statistics do not reflect arrests of individuals or criminal convictions,
but merely reflect calls for service regardless of the disposition of the incident.
Because of this, not all TPD activity (i.e. every crime) is available via this web
site.
The web site data is searchable through numerous formats such as date range, activity
type, proximity to an address, a specific geographic boundary, neighborhood association,
and additional parameters. It is important that users understand the icon legend,
the definition of each activity, and follow the prescribed directions.
This application performs best using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2.0 at size
1024 X 768. The TOPS application uses additional pages to display information and
it is because of this that popup blockers must be turned off. Refer to the help
pages for instruction on how to turn off popup blockers.
